Scenes From A Parking Lot, by Eugene Boronow

Whistling in a parking lot.
Kissing lovers wrestling in a darkened corner
Where the shadows go to be alone,
The silence calls out with a groan that fills the night.
Surfing on the landslide in my mind.

Crickets sing their song, and
When cicadas hum along the glowing
Embers of the evening's conversation light the way
I've learned to love the lonely day before the night.

Drifting in a song I know,
The current and the melody will flow.
A river always knows which way to go.

Aboard a train of thought.
Across the vacant parking lot
A halo dancing in the mist
A lunar glow that will eclipse
The words that stumble from my lips without a care.
Filling in the space that isn't there.

Leaning on my car
I didn't mean to go this far
But when the stillness of the air
Engages like a vacant stare
A waking dream will always take me anywhere.

Drifting in this song of mine,
Ahead of me the mountains left to climb.
Surfing on the landslide in my mind.
